When a hot water tap is opened, the cold water enters the heater and triggers the burner to start.The hot water tap acts as an ignition key for the heating process to start. The water is heated as it flows through the heating element. The burner flame maintains a constant temperature. Hence it helps to save a lot of energy and the amount of gas used. No need to add cold water to achieve the desired temperature.
